As a big fan of the Garth Ennis comic and a tepid fan of the current AMC TV show (I am a bit behind, have only seen up to episode 4), I share with you the news that AMC has decided to stick by the show and will be bringing us 13 more episodes in 2017. Here is what Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios has to say:
‘Preacher’ is a special television program and we’re eager to share with fans the rest of this wild first season and, now, an expanded second season. What Sam, Seth, Evan and the entire creative team have achieved in bringing Garth Ennis’ graphic novel to the screen is extraordinary. We look forward to more time with these unforgettable characters be it in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond.”
Personally I really like the main cast and think they more or less nail the spirit and vibe of the characters, I also have no problem with the decision of slowing down the pace a bit and letting things develop. I will say that what I have seen so far I am not loving the way they have decided to lay out this story, as on first glance it seems like a mess. This could just be a symptom of knowing where things are heading and the anticipation to see how that will play out on screen, only time will tell if they can stick the landing.
